THE VISUAL INTERPRETATION OF THE LATIN FONTS IN THE ARABIC WORLD

For hundreds of years, books are being translated from Latin languages into Arabic and vice-versa. But since the beginning of globalization, not only words invaded other cultures but also companies with their different logos, visuals, font, and shapes. What we in Europe do not necessarily think of, is if foreigners, from the Arabic culture, see the Latin letters and interpret it the same way we do. Do they recognize the difference between the letter (l), number (1), the letter Alf (ا) in the Arabic alphabet?

As a communication designer and an Arab who has lived in Europe for a long time, I want to make a study that intends to find a visual common ground between both scripts, which could help us create a comprehensive, unified visual identity that could lead to more successful international corporate designs in the future. Moreover, I would like to shed some light on the corporate characters in Arabic of big companies nowadays and to analyze what they have achieved so far.
